How I manage & maintain my energy

I have to be honest:

Sometimes when I write out my daily flow on Instagram, I'm blown away by how much I get done each day.

I'll share an example of a typical day for me:

up with the sun (6:30am)
mushroom matcha
fed my boys
dressed & ready
audiobook on
unload dishwasher
read a chapter
journaled one page
long walk with Archie
start laundry
worked on content
(3) one on one coaching calls
lunch break
2-hr work block
botox appointment
pilates class
yoga & reiki
visit baby Joey for kisses
home to make a shake
finish laundry
one episode on Netflix
skincare & pjs
read in bed
lights out 10pm

I've been an entrepreneur, working from home, for over 10 years now. I think entrepreneurship really tests your willpower and discipline even before you add in kids, housework, friends, hobbies, and whatever else we have on our plates.

I've really learned to say no to the things that aren't aligned with my vision and where I'm going, and at the same time, have learned how to create harmony in my daily flow.

There's a give and a take.

I've shared my belief that I believe you need to work hard and recharge harder.

I think the more I rest and recharge, the more disciplined and intentional I am when I do sit down to work.

So first, let me share some of the things I've noticed that seriously drain my energy:

overthinking
unintentional screen-time
social media
clutter
dehydration
inconsistent sleep
lazy eating habits
alcohol
people pleasing
unrealistic goals
unclear boundaries
negativity
going, going, going without rest
busy work

You can probably relate to some of them. In fact, I remember a time in my life where I told myself that some of these things allowed me to disconnect and recharge when in fact, they were doing the opposite.

I'd stretch my work hours into the night and sleep in, throwing off my sleep, eating habits, and self-care. I'd fight burnout and zone out into the endless scroll while watching Netflix at the same time, telling myself that I was recharging.

Once I started stepping into my vision, taking the baby steps to make that a reality, I realized my daily flow was causing more harm than good.

I started taking intentional action steps towards becoming that highest version of me and my habits and energy started to shift.

Let me share what I learned, the habits that now truly recharge me:

sunlight
a glass of water
nourishing food
movement
laughter
cuddles with my animals
self-care
meditation
visualization
reading
music
fresh air
my community
creativity
journaling
setting intentions
sleeping

Chances are you're already incorporating some of these into your day!

Now my challenge for you: make a trade.

Identify one of the energy sucking habits I listed that you can relate to, a struggle you're having right now or something you're not bringing as much intention to as you'd like.

Next, pick a trade.
What's something, an energy giver that you'll swap in. These little energy givers are intentionally sprinkled throughout my day, in between the non-negotiables, appointments, and obligations.

Give it a week, shit - a day.
One day at a time, choosing this trade.

And if you haven't done so yet, start with your vision. Feel free to snag my free tool and write out that vision you have for your future self.

From there, like I shared in my last blog entry, you can choose step one for your trade.

Awareness is everything.
