The Art of Pivoting

Pivots need to happen.

More often than we'd like.

It's the need to release of expectations around what things "should" look like and instead, shifting that thinking into:

If I can't do ___ then I'll do ___.

It's not throwing our hands in the air and saying "fuck it" to what we know feels good or what our priorities are.

It's a shift.

I realize you’re sitting there thinking: easier said than done.

Every season of our life requires these pivots, hell, every day might require these pivots.

My job is to help people create daily routines or flows that work for them in their life.

You may have a routine that you follow also, whether it’s working for you or not, only you know.

We wake up, eager for the routine we’ve created and something happens.

A kid wakes up too early.

A spouse doesn’t respect a boundary.

The dog won’t stop barking.

Someone knocks on the door.

The interruptions are endless and the thing about life is that they’re always going to happen.

I created a vision for what I want this next season of my life to look like and just like *that* it can change.
I’ll definitely share more about this in my next Newsletter.

In these pivots, I have a few questions I ask myself and/or reflect on to create the pivot and move forward.

I want to share them with you so you can use them as prompts when you find yourself in the same situation.

PROMPTS:

  1. If I can’t do _____ then I’ll do _____.

  2. What could I have done to prevent this interruption/pivot?

  3. What do I now need in this new season?

  4. How do I need to show up now?

  5. If I could repeat today, what would I have done differently?

  6. Is this interruption/pivot reoccurring?

  7. What boundary could I put in place to prevent it tomorrow?

  8. What do I have control of?

  9. What isn’t in my control?

  10. What do you need to pay more attention to?

  11. If I can’t do this habit now, where else will it fit in my day?

  12. If this can’t be avoided, what expectations do I need to release?

  13. What can I do?

Our priorities don't shift when our vision, routine, or life shifts

We simply pivot.
